Pipe Relining Rutherford
Pipe relining in Rutherford repairs a cracked or root-affected drain from within the old pipe, so no trench crosses the yard. We run a camera first, price the job before work starts, and line the pipe where it sits. Ring (02) 4915 2998 to book, or visit our plumber in Rutherford home page for everything else.

What Makes Relining Worth Considering?
The pipe gets repaired where it lies. A felt liner soaked in resin is fed into the damaged run, pressed out firmly so it bonds to the inside of the old pipe, then cured until it sets as a smooth, watertight new wall.
- Gardens, driveways and fences stay untouched, because there is no excavation
- Cracks and open joints get sealed, which shuts out roots and groundwater
- Flow often improves, since the finished surface is slicker than aged clay
- One existing access point is usually all the work needs
It is not right for every failure. A line that has collapsed or sagged needs replacing, and the camera run shows us which case you have before anyone quotes.
How We Reline a Pipe
The camera goes down first
The pipe gets cleaned out
The liner goes in and cures
A final camera pass checks the seal
What Decides the Relining Price?
We provide up-front, honest quotes that will always match the final price, should you decide to go ahead.
The figure reflects the job itself, and these are the things that move it:
- Length of run being lined, since liners are priced by section
- Pipe diameter, because wider lines take more material and different gear
- Junctions and bends the liner has to negotiate on its way through
- The pipe's condition as the camera shows it, including how much preparation the cleaning pass needs
You get the agreed figure on paper before anyone starts, so the decision is yours with everything on the table.
When we're not the right call: where the camera shows a simple blockage rather than structural damage, a blocked sewer clear or tree root removal can be the whole job. In that case you pay for the smaller job, not the bigger fix, and the drains hub sets out every option.
Why Relining Suits This Ground
Digging here fights water from the first spade. Rutherford sits low on the Hunter River floodplain, and groundwater stays close beneath the surface, so an open trench through the older streets turns to slop before it reaches the pipe. Much of the pre-1980s housing was sewered in vitrified clay, which cracks at the joints as it ages, and the mature trees through those same streets have spent decades hunting out those cracks with their roots.
Lining the pipe from inside closes every joint and hairline in a single pass, with the garden, the driveway and the brick veneer footings from the 1960s through the 1980s left exactly as they were. For homes on this low ground, that is the difference between a repair and an excavation site.
"They were very understanding of my situation, with a work around for my pipe issues, which ended up being a fraction of the cost than previous quotes from another company." Sarah
When a Liner Is Not the Answer
A pipe that has collapsed, dropped or been crushed needs replacement, and the camera footage settles that before any quote. Relining also stops at your boundary; a cracked section of the street sewer belongs to the water authority.
Pipe Relining Questions
Does relining suit the clay pipes under older Rutherford streets?
Usually, yes. The camera run tells us whether the clay line still holds its shape, and where it does, the liner bonds over the cracked joints from inside. No trench, no ruined garden.
Will tree roots come back through a relined pipe?
The liner closes off the joints and hairline cracks roots were using as entry points, so the usual highway back inside is gone. Roots may still sit outside the pipe, but they have nowhere to get in.
How long does the liner take to cure?
Curing time depends on the pipe diameter, the length being lined and the resin used, so we confirm the timing for your specific job when we quote. You will know the plan before anything starts.
Do you line pipes in Aberglasslyn and Telarah too?
We do. Those suburbs and the rest of our regular run get the same camera-first process, the same up-front quote and the same 365-day warranty on all work.
